The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Education Secretariat, Mrs. Joy Okeke has urged staff members to remain committed to their duties and ensure punctuality and presence at their duty posts.
This call to action is aimed to promote a culture of diligence and responsibility within the secretariat.
She made this call during an inspection tour of offices and units around the Secretariat.
The Permanent Secretary also stressed the importance of expediting the movement of files and avoiding delays.
“I urge us to be punctual and dedicated in discharging our duties. Don’t procrastinate any work that needs to be done, especially when you need to treat files. Remember, we must remain committed to contributing to the development of the education sector”, Mrs. Okeke said.
She commended staff for their tireless efforts in achieving the education sector’s mandate and solicited their continued support, while noting challenges and complaints of the staff.
In her words, “after going round, I am impressed with the staff turnout. I commend all who have been working tirelessly to achieve our mandate and will urge you to continue to support the administration by playing your part. We have noted the challenges from some units, and we will ensure that they are taking care of in order to maintain efficiency from all quarters”.
She also said similar tours would be carried out more often, as she continues to familiarize with the environment.
“We will continue to embark on this tour, as we jointly work together to achieve the secretariat’s mandate”.
On the part of the staff, the Secretary to the Mandate Secretary of the Secretariat, Mallam Sanusi Aminu Aliyu, said the move by the Permanent Secretary was well appreciated and commendable.
“The inspection tour by the Permanent Secretary is going to bridge gaps and also create a bond between the Permanent Secretary and the staff. And this will go a long way in improving the working relationship between the staff and the Permanent Secretary. We commend and appreciate her”, he said.
