The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), on Thursday in Abuja felicitated and honored 10 newly promoted senior police officers, including former Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, over their commitment and dedication to duty.
Other senior officers honoured were Mr Johnson Adenola, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 16, Yenagoa and Mr Ohiozoba Ehiede, the AIG in charge of Legal Service, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Ahmed Lateef, a Commissioner of Police (CP) and PSO I to the Inspector General of Police (I-G), Akin Fakorede, CP, I-G Monitoring Unit, CP Uduak Ita, Deputy Commandant, Police College, Orji-River.
Also honoured at the event were; Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACPs Magaji Mohammed, Head, IGP Monitoring Unit, Ebun Dada, PSO II, Ganiyu Adebowale, PA to IGP, and Bukola Kuti, PSO III to IGP.
Speaking at the special commendation and awards session held in honor of the officers, the National Chairman of PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniran, said the session was born out of PCRC’s belief in Nigeria.
Olaniyan said the session was to appreciate the officers, picked out of several others that deserved it for their dedication and service to the country.
He said the idea was to showcase the officers, adding that the country lacks the culture of appreciation, especially for personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to him, these men we are celebrating today have chosen a path where they don’t have freedom, no time for their families and dedicate all their lives to service for the nation. We want to show to the world that, the PCRC, an organisation, established over 41 years ago with over 40 million members is with the Nigeria Police Force.
“We are promoting the good image of Nigeria Police Force and have chosen to celebrate the best among them. One good thing about PCRC is that, if we celebrate any police officer, we back it up with money and it is not to bribe them. We are sending them back to their families with the token we have given them in appreciation to the sacrifices they are making for the country,” he said.
In his remark, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Directorate of Legal Services at the Force Headquarters and one of the awardees, Barr. Ohiozoba Ehide commended the PCRC for the award.
Ehiede said the award was an indication that contributions being made by individuals were being recognised, locally and internationally.
He said the contribution he had made was not about the PCRC but about the Nigeria Police Force.
The AIG called on the leadership of the PCRC to remain united in the pursuit of the goals of the committee.
