In a renewed effort to strengthen peace, safety, and community collaboration in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu on Saturday, received a high-powered delegation from the Aguleri Community at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters Awka.
During the meeting, CP Orutugu commended the Aguleri Community for its proactive approach to peace building and its commitment to supporting policing efforts in the State.
According to the Command’s Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the CP emphasized that sustainable security can only be achieved through strong partnerships between the Police and communities.
His Majesty, HM Eze (Dr) Chukwuemeka Eri, Akaji Ovor Igbo, Ezeora 34th, and present occupant of the Obu Gad, Enugwu Aguleri, the Eze Eri-in-Council thanked the Commissioner for his leadership and reaffirmed their readiness to work closely with the Police in intelligence sharing, conflict prevention and youth sensitization on peaceful conduct.
Ikenga said the visit was part of ongoing community- policing engagements aimed at fostering mutual understanding, reinforcing public trust, and improving security cooperation between residents and law enforcement authorities.
“Both parties discussed strategic ways to enhance security in the region, including community engagement programs, improved communication channels, and joint initiatives aimed at crime prevention. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation and sustain the peaceful atmosphere in Anambra State”, he said.
