The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federa Capital Territory, FCT Council, has received with deep shock and sorrow the passing of Mr. Shola Aiyebola, a dedicated staff member and the longest-serving television programme producer at DAAR Communications Plc.
His death, according to a press release signed by the Secretary, NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, is a painful loss not only to the Council but also to the Nigerian media industry, and it has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
“Aiyebola was a consummate media professional whose commitment, diligence, and passion for broadcasting left a lasting imprint on his colleagues and the industry at large.
“The NUJ FCT Council acknowledges Mr. Aiyebola’s years of service and invaluable contributions to television production, particularly his role in shaping impactful programming that informed and educated the public, including the magazine programme Kakaaki, which he worked on from 1997. His professionalism and humility earned him respect within and beyond DAAR Communications.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the management and staff of DAAR Communications, the NUJ DAAR Communications Chapel; as well as his friends and loved ones.
“The NUJ FCT Council stands in solidarity with DAAR Communications at this difficult time and prays that Almighty God grants the soul of Mr. Shola Aiyebola eternal rest, and grants his family and colleagues the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, he stated.
